Statewide, landfill capacity has been increased by millions of tons in recent years by the expansion of existing landfills in Waterloo, Mill Seat, Riga,Angelica,Diana, and Ellery, all in western and central New York. Additional expansions are proposed in Lewiston and Chaffee, both in western New York, and Ava in the North Country.
