Landfill Proposal in Diana
Victory against a landfill proposal in the Town of Diana (Lewis Co.) was the result of patient lobbying with the Diana town board by the Adirondack Landfill Opposition Team. After four months of waffling, on November 14th the board passed a landfill ban law tailored on the Town of Root's law, which we've posted on our archive web site.
Omni Waste brought the proposal for a 5,000 ton-per-day dump to the town board last summer. Opponents of the dump plan received the help of state Assemblyman Robert Nortz (114th District; Legislative Commission on Rural Resources ) and Assemblywoman Dierdre K. Scqzzafava (112th District; ranking minority member, Committee on Local government).
The Town of Diana is located in the western Adirondacks near the City of Harrisville.
