The Finger Lakes Trail passes through Farmersville along Carpenter Brook, immediately below the proposed mega-dump site. It's part of a trail system long promoted by county planning and business leaders, as tourism is Cattaraugus County's largest single industry. The Finger Lakes Trail connects Allegany State Park with the Finger Lakes area, and provides recreation for hikers, cross-country skiers and horseback riders.
