S.4806 would establish a Task Force to determine who should regulate industrial wind energy projects and how

NYS Senator Alesi has introduced legislation that would impose an 18-month moratorium on further siting of wind energy projects, allowing a special Task Force to study problems with the existing regulatory system. In fact we don't have a system: no comprehensive state regulation of large wind projects exists. As a result, unsophisticated rural towns are prey for investors counting on generous tax breaks and subsidies--they get more money from these than from selling electricity generated from wind.

135 towns are considering industrial wind projects involving more than 760,000 acres. The Town of Clinton, comprising 43,000 acres, is considering a wind project that would span over 37,000 acres. Some homeowners in Clinton are already leaving.
